Barista to Navy Mechanic to University Recruiter!

My path to talent acquisition has been of an unusual one! I started my work experience making coffee, joined the Navy and became an F-18 engine mechanic, and found myself working for Boise State University after I used my GI Bill to earn a degree. I spent close to 6 years in higher education while also earning a Masters in Education. I decided to make an industry change and applied for the role of University Recruiter at Micron and have not looked back! I love working with interns and new college grads! Helping them reach the next stage in their career is exciting and incredible rewarding!

I recruit interns and new college graduates to join Micron!

I am part of the university recruiting team at Micron! I help source, screen, set-up interviews, and assist with the offer process. We also are very active with universities across the country and attend many college events to help with our recruiting efforts every fall and spring semesters. We also run a summer internship program with hundreds of students where we try to create a engaging and lasting experience to hopefully bring them back in a full-time capacity after graduation.

I find helping people reach their goals to be very rewarding!

Looking for a job out of college can be stressful! I love being a partner to the candidate as they work through the process and try to find the best fit not only for themselves but Micron. I enjoy being their advocate in the process! My favorite part of my job? Giving the offer call to the candidate to let them know they got the job or internship.

Being the most qualified sailor (maxed out for my rank) on my command.

In the Navy I was considered an underdog. I had no experience working with mechanics. I struggled in my technical schools and was terrified to join the fleet. I met my command in Iraq and told myself if I was going to do this, I was going to fully commit. From that point on, I studied at every chance I got and soon became the most junior but most qualified member of my command. I made E5 in two years and won the Plane Captain of the Year award (I also earned a seat on an F-18 ride along because of that win). I left the Navy with no stone left unturned (with two NAMs) and will forever be proud of the work I put into my 4 years in the Navy. I would not have the life I have now, if not for my time in the Navy.
