A new hire in a role similar to mine is responsible for understanding "the shape of the universe" and identifying process inefficiencies. From there, you're responsible for managing projects that drill into problems and delivering solutions, which can range from technical forums for cross-functional collaboration to data visualization for executive reporting.
Process improvement roles are relatively new to Micron's business units, so I'd recommend new hires be prepared to approach their work like a consultant. Start by understanding the structure of your organization, allocation of roles & responsibilities, and high level metrics. Ultimately, you need to know how your organization measures success and how each team contributes. From there, any process improvement initiative you drive needs to move the needle on your organization's success.
