Product Engineer
I learned so much in my first year, and it wasn't only technical. When I first started I was assigned small tasks and projects to start to learn the tools my team uses and who the experts are to ask questions to and learn from. After a few months I was asked to lead a weekly update meeting, that gave me more exposure to other teams and how their work relates to mine. This was a great opportunity for me to also develop more soft skills like leadership and communication, I had to make sure to send out the agenda and meeting minutes in a timely manner before and after each meeting as well as hold each presenter to their allocated time so we would start and end on time. It was definitely a bit of a fire hose of information when I first started, but the way my team set up training with smaller tasks first that slowly lead to me running a meeting really helped build up my confidence and ability to get my job done.
